Frequently Asked Questions

PLEASE NOTE:
WE DO NOT HAVE AN HERBALIST OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF HEALTH CARE PRACTITIONERS ON STAFF

OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM CANNOT PRESCRIBE, RECOMMEND OR MAKE CLAIMS ABOUT THE HEALING PROPERTIES OR EFFICACY OF OUR HERBS.

1. How Soon Can I Expect My Order?

In the “internet shopping age” many of us have an “amazon.com” mentality about how quickly something will ship. Since we are first and foremost a working farm, we do not guarantee any time frames in which orders will ship. During certain times of the year (like the summer months) it could take up to 6 to 10 business days to get an order packed for shipping. This is because this is the peak time of year for bringing in our own crops for processing for contracts. If you absolutely need something by a certain date, please let us know and we’ll do our best to get you what you need by that date.

2. What’s the difference between organic, wild harvested and grown without chemicals?

Organic means that an herb is CERTIFIED ORGANIC through the National Organic Program and is “generally” cultivated. There are some wild harvested products that become certified organic because an organic certification agency will come onto the wild harvested land and certify the land prior to wild harvesting the crop. Wild Harvested means that an herb is actually collected in its normal habitat/environment. We have strict criteria that our wild harvesters must adhere to in order to preserve plant populations and other harvest protocols. Grown Without Chemicals are herbs that are sourced from a trusted grower or supplier who cultivates the herbs without chemicals. Often times the supplier was certified organic at one time but then elects not to become CERTIFIED organic because of the expenses associated with the process.

3. When is product available?

Although we do our very best to predict our stock needs on an annual basis, because we are working with “mother nature” availability of herbs grown on our farm and with those we contract with are dictated by the growing seasons. If we experience an increased sale of a particular herb, we sometimes run out of product before the next harvest is available. Note that each year herbs (aerial portions of the plant) are generally harvested in the summer months and processed and ready for sale by mid-October. Roots are harvested in the late fall, early winter months and are generally ready for sale by the end of November/beginning of December.

4. How can I be notified when an “out of stock” herb is back in stock?

On the online store, choose the out of stock item that you are interested in either from the “out of stocks” tab at the top or in the alphabetized section – and then click on the “add to cart” button. A prompt will come up asking for your email. As soon as the product is in stock you will receive an email notification.

5. Can I back order herbs that are out of stock?

No, our business model is not set up to accommodate these types of requests. See number four above.

6. What do I do to receive FRESH herbs (non-dried herbs) shipped out the same day?

Our harvest times vary from year-to-year and fresh herbs are harvested at the height of their potency. You can get a general sense of harvest times and frequency by Clicking Here. It is important for you to call us a minimum of one month in advance of the estimated harvest. When the fresh harvest is ready to ship you will receive an automated call asking you to call us to verify that you are still interested and can take the product.

7. Can you tell me the healing properties or medicinal uses of a particular herb?

According to FDA guidelines we cannot make any claims for the healing properties of our botanicals. Any information about our herbs on the website, or our publications is for educational purposes only. This information has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, nor is it intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

8. Do you have formulas or recipes for medicine making?

We do not. We provide only the raw materials.

9. How can I determine the country of origin for the herbs I am ordering?

All of the herbs listed in our catalog, or on the website have the country of origin listed. In the online store click into the product description to find the country of origin in the online store. In our catalog all of the herbs grown on our farm are highlighted in green type.

10. Do you have a print catalog I could keep on hand?

Yes we do. Click Here to order your free print copy and to be put on the mailing list to receive future issues. Click here to download catalog over the internet.

11. Can my order be rushed so that I can get it sooner?

Yes. We use UPS. Online Orders cannot be expedited. Please call in your order before 10 am (PST) and arrange expedited (Next Day) shipping with one of our Customer Care Team members. Please Note: There will also be an additional $20.00 (per box) charge to move your order to the front of the packing schedule.
